The same problem is troubling Greece!Reader comment on item: [Australia's] Crisis of illegal immigration Submitted by Panagiotis Georgiadis (Greece), Jun 2, 2009 at 19:28 In my country too we have a huge influx of illegal Afghan and Pakistani immigrants. We are a country of about 10 million people and we have about 2 million of such people already with 150 thousand coming every year and the number is rising. Although at first citizens treated them kindly and offered them food and clothing now they have changed their attitude towards them because crime has risen dramatically. What is more troubling, is that these people do not feel gratitude towards us but they are accusing us of not offering them a better life when we simply do not have the means. With the current economic crisis it is difficult enough to provide employment for Greek citizens, let alone a horde of two million extra people who are grossly uneducated and unskillful. Moreover as stated by a poster here, these people display a hostile attitude towards us refusing to conform to the rules and mentality of our society forgetting that they invaded our territory uninvited. I'm afraid that unless strident measures are taken of keeping these people off our shores there will soon be a conflict in our society of unprecedented proportions and racism will rise its ugly head in a country where this was totally unheard of.
