Reader comment on item: Quneitra, Why in Ruins?

Submitted by Arthur Goldschmkidt (United States), Jul 6, 2009 at 15:29

I visited the city as part of a tour group of foreign professors in Israel, at a time when the city was still under Israeli control, I think in February 1974. The city wasn't exactly intact, but it had not yet been totally flattened despite the 1967 and 1973 wars, as I gather it has been since it was returned to Syria later in that year. I tend to think that both Syrians and Israelis contributed to its destruction.
