Voluntary Segregation?Reader comment on item: "The Jews Are Going, the Arabs Are Coming" Submitted by Shishir Yerramilli (United Arab Emirates), Aug 3, 2009 at 02:18 Dr. Pipes, This would be rather alarming if werent for your earlier article about Jews and Arabs within Israel preferring to live apart rather than reside in mixed communities.Perhaps Jews are creating new centres of purely Jewish population(s) both within Israel and in the West Bank colonies while retreating from mixed areas. While it may not seem desirable that this appears to create what Meir Kahane called "a Northern Ireland type" situation within the borders of Israel, it should be noted that most of the residents are comfortable with Israeli society and the freedom and oppurtunities it provides(even if they wish to avoid the culture that creates such an environment!). As for demographic aggression, of course the Arab birth rate within Israel is alarmingly high and one can see the evidence of this from the increase in the percentage of the populace.OTOH Israeli birthrate is actually higher than the Arabs, thanks in no small part to the Orthodox/ultra Orthodox.
