Sixth Fatah General Congress, Arafat ResurrectedReader comment on item: Reflections on the Sixth Fatah General Congress Submitted by Stephen Hughes (United States), Aug 20, 2009 at 10:23 Where in this so called Arab Palestinian Congress were there calls for Statesmanship, or Nation building? Who addressed the poverty problems of the Arab Palestinians, or schools , hospitals , or even developing water resources? Such issues, by Abbas and this Fatah Congress were given as much importance and consideration as spit. Overlooked by a gigantic wall poster of the late Yasser Arafat thunderous calls for hostilities, hatred of Israel, and further institutionalization of violent bloodshed echoed.. now woven together. Barricades of profound belligerency were erected, to calls of allying with Iran as Hamas has done. Any thoughts of peace with Israel were a mangled carnage of desolation. Mahmoud Abbas , the elected leader fully expects Obama along with his administrative officials to fully fund Fatah's road of cold-bloodedness, to rip concession after concession from the heart of Israel, even to the point of forcing Israel to recognize and accept the creation of a Palestinian State, a state which is at war with Israel. Between 2005 and 2008 as Iran backed Hamas launched over 7,000 rockets and mortars into Israeli communities, Washington Officials looked the other way under hawkish President Bush . Bush paralyzed by appeasement –concessions with Fatah 's Abbas , could only watch as all of his work for Israeli – Palestinian peace crumbled , Abbas's Arafatin strategy, blaming Israel, this deception transparent, Abbas simply danced around Bush until his Presidency time ran out. The apologetic –non confrontationalist Obama is seen by Abbas as a simplist , at best an ostrich of below ground politics which cannot see a thing. Abbas and his Fatah party will be demanding all of Jerusalem, more land and of course more money. With his Arafatin strategy Abbas will dance circles once again, but around Obama, making even more outlandish demands as Obama needs to reconcile differences between Fatah and Hamas., and hand Obama's administration a to do list, which as he did with Bush is suppose to bring an end to the Israeli-Arab Palestinian Crisis. However in reality Abbas with the ignorant Obama, is laying, creating the foundation for the next intifada, the next siege of missiles. Abbas fully expects Obama to chain Israel, to fully prevent Israel from responding to any acts of hostilities , no matter how bloody they are. As with Bush, Abbas will lay the blame of Hama's 2005 – 2008 rocket intifada on Israel's so called aggressions to this, the need to restraint Israel, and the Israeli extremist government. Abbas is only playing for time, waiting for the American presidential election campaigns to further escalate. This we are already seeing with Republican Mike Huckabee and his recent trip to Israel. Obama is desperate for something he can hold up as a grandiose accomplishment for his presidential democrat campaign platform. Abbas knows all too well how US presidents will take a dead corpse as long as he can paint it white enough. Obama, losing in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the homefront, sees the only place he can win, is with the Israeli – Arab Palestinian peace process, that means extracting concessions from Israel.
