Abolishement of Slavery in IslamReader comment on item: Islamists Endorse Muslims Owning Slaves Submitted by Ali Rasheed (United States), Oct 27, 2009 at 10:54 The Saudi cleric that is reported to have said that Islam never abolished slavery was correct. However slavery was frowned upon by the prophet Muhammad who gave freedom to his slaves and made humane treatment and and opportunity for a slave to buy his freedom a duty, and the freeing of slaves a a righteous act highly regarded in the eyeshight of God. If Muslims claim to follow the way of their Prophet, Peace be upon him, they to would abolish this practice. But then, just as the Jews and Christians, most of them dont follow the teachings and practices of their prophet either. As to the allowing of interest by Jews and Christian in their modern societies, they have chosen to deliberately an overtly disobey the teachings of their prophets and by default God. The imposition of interest by those who have been blessed with more than they need for a reasonable life on those who have not, leads to the a financial burden imposed on the individual in need and the society in general and leads to a form of slavery (financial) in and of itself. While profit that is generated from money that is invested in a productive endeavor is beneficial to the whole society, interest that is extracted by the rich from the poor only benefit the rich or those who already have. Not that I am against the rich, I'm just against exploitation of the poor and the weak by the rich and the powerful whether it be the imposition slavery or the extraction of interest . Submitting....
