DID YOU KNOW THAT THAT THE NAME "CALIFORNIA" IS FROM THE WORD "CALIPH". IT MEANS BASICALLY A RELIGOUS LEADER OF ISLAM. THE SPANIARDS, HAVING MUSLIMS AMONGST THEM, NAMED THE STATE CALIFORNIA. OTHER CITIES WITH ISLAMIC LINKS ARE "TALLAHASSEE{ NOTICE THE WORD ALLAH}, TALLADEGA, ALABAMA, MEDINA, AND SO ON.

IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE UNITED STATES, A LOT OF THE SLAVES WHO WERE MUSLIM, PROPAGATED ISLAM TO THE NATIVES. THEY IN TURN NAMED THESE CITIES AFTER THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE WITH ISLAMIC MEANINGS. INTERESTING.
