Absolutely ridiculous!Reader comment on item: Niqabs and Burqas Banned at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Submitted by Chloe (United States), Dec 27, 2009 at 23:49 Where in the Mr. Pipes' article does it state that Tarek Mehanna was wearing a head covering? The article only states that he "allegedly planned to launch terrorist attacks both inside and outside the United States, specifically planning to attack a shopping mall with automatic weapons." No where does it state what he was wearing; only his intentions. How could the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences be so pig-headed? I understand the need for proper identification on campus, and I think that carrying around an ID card at all times should be mandatory. I do not, however, feel that banning Niqabs and Burqas will solve anything. Wearing those articles of clothing represent a religious and personal choice. They are not harming anyone. If necessary, the person wearing one of those could be asked to remove their head coverings solely for identification, and should be allowed to continue wearing it after they are properly identified. Are we so biased toward Muslims that we are banning them from personal decisions about dressing? I understand that this memo was sent out to everyone at the campus, but it clearly stemmed from the actions of Tarek Mehanna - and in a more broader scale, sent out to Muslims. This decision was absolutely ridiculous. Anyone could plan a murder, anyone at all, and they probably wouldn't even wear either of the above head coverings.
