hey the saudis allowed a mixed gender concert with western music ?, may be they are ready to crawl into the 17 th. century ? ..Feb 2010Reader comment on item: Music and Islamists Submitted by Phil Greend (Canada), Feb 5, 2010 at 15:13 The islamic world is so completely controlled by the muslim imans et al that there is no freedom. This then takes on a life of its own. Nothing new is invented. If the flute and piano is banned, who will be able to write a new opera or musical? No one that is who. This type of shutting down of peoples minds is the reason that islamic countries are so backward and ignorant. This is perfect breeding grounds for terrorist recruiters. Now there is internet and channels from all over the world reaching islamic countries. They see what we have, and they are mad and jealous. Most people in islamic nations have horrible lives. On a more positive note, maybe seeing and living some of our culture will inspire the muslims to reject the evil teachings of mohammed and tell the imans to take a flying leap. One day maybe the good muslims will be able to think for themselves. Good luck to them ! Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
