ReportageReader comment on item: Should We Believe Rashad Hussain? Submitted by trans-parere (Canada), Feb 26, 2010 at 11:14 Three times in my life to date, I have been a willing subject for the newspaper [charitable work]. Not once during those experiences have I been accurately quoted. In the last instance, a 40 minute video-taped interview with a 'journalist' taking notes, not only were my actual statements massaged [ahem, literary license] but, in the two page layout I was so taken out of context that I could not recognise myself or what I could remember of the interview. So, I don't know Mr. Hussain. I am not even familiar with any of his work. For myself 'deeds' speak louder than words anyhow. Perhaps if we had a list of Mr. Hussains accomplishments we could best judge the extent of his "Islamic bent". Me personally, I distrust all Abrahamic Religious Organs. Any philosophy that would have "conversion" as a corner stone. Nothing good comes from religion or even culture when it is a socially dominating 'State" force. It is a breeding ground for xenophobia and limited thought. Nor does much good come with the concept of one God. [Ours. Not yours.Naturally]. When you have a "religion" and a following who's ultimate goal is to be the one and only true faith you begin on your crusade/jihad with the destruction of the individual as your prime goal. If that does not slip snugly into the definition of evil, I don't know what answers any better. What is done in the name of these Abrahamic Religions is a source of shame and all three need a 21st century redress and a 21st century execution. Not more of that. The other one. Using knowledge as distinguished from merely assuming the possession of it. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
