Whose example should Israel & US follow: Nepalese or French?

Reader comment on item: [Nepal and France:] Two Opposite Responses to Terrorism

Submitted by Eleonora Shifrin (Israel), Sep 14, 2004 at 13:59

Dear Dr. Pipes,
Your article and its final conclusion are perfectly logical. You quite understandably don't write in it that the Nepalese attacked "militant Islamists", and you seem to sympathise with their outrage when they attacked every Moslem target they could spot around. I cannot agree with you more when you write that their reaction made any future attacks against them less likely, wheras the opposite reaction of the French will fasten the dimmhi status of this country.

What makes me wonder after reading this article is why you don't call upon Israel and America to learn their lesson here, why you seem not to see what the simple Nepalese sensed: that it is Moslems against the rest of the world, and that it is the Moslem world fighting against our civilization, not some limited sect called "militant Islam".
