RightReader comment on item: Praising Military Slavery Submitted by Mark D. (United States), May 20, 2010 at 20:45 ------ Mu'min ad-Dassuqi softens and extols the Muslim slave system: in Islam, slaves were raised properly, and great leaders emerged from them, especially in the era of the Mamluks who ruled the world. In other words, slaves were not treated in a manner that did not respect their humanity and dignity. ----- Oh, joy. Did not respect their humanity and dignity? Slavery in and of itself does not respect humanity and dignity. It's wholly indefensible. Once more, for emphasis. Indefensible. Mark D.
