Re. Will Muslims opt for Sharia?Reader comment on item: Atiq Malik, British Politician, Calls for Stoning Adulterous Muslim Women Submitted by Phil Ghidinelli (United Kingdom), Jun 22, 2010 at 13:10 Why should Muslims decide if Sharia law should be implemented here in the UK? Do they run the UK? We have a democratically elected Government that the British people voted in. If any one doubts the barbarity of Sharia law look how it is used in countries like Iran, where people are executed for the most trivial offences. Does any one realistically imagine that the British people want that kind of barbaric system here? To add to that, how can any one be sure that it will remain confines to Muslims? What about the Muslims who came here to get away from that kind of barbarity? Sharia law must NEVER be allowed any power in the UK. If there are Muslims that want to live under Sharia law then let them use the freedom that we give them to go live in a country that practices that particular system. Please don't misunderstand what I say, I have nothing against Muslims. I live among the Muslim community here and I have very good relations with them. To add to that I have friends who are Muslim. The point I am making here is that if you go to live in another country then you have to abide by and respect that countries laws and customs. I have lived abroad myself and I found myself in the same position, why should it be different for people who come here? Muslim or otherwise.
