The Old EuropeansReader comment on item: Hating America's Success Submitted by Arthur (Czech Republic), Oct 12, 2004 at 17:07 Having lived in Canada and the USA for six years and forced to move back to Europe I can tell you this; the more success the USA has in any field, whether it be technology, military or any other, the Europeans will still look at the USA as the ' pain in the neck " simply because they think they have the "cultural" background, the "historical right " to be the better of the two!It is nonsense, but that's the way they think. The European countries have tried to put a "United European States" together, under France leadership, as a counter balance to the USA but that has come and will come to nothing. Mr. Robert Kagan's book, "Of Paradise and Power " is very interesting and very alarming. European countries do not have the power or the mentality to solve any problems, even in their own back yard ( e.g., Bosnia ). The " can and will do " mentality is something the Europeans don't understand and are not willing to put any effort in. It's like Mr Colin Powell said: don't call 911 and expect the USA to show up every time, but for peace's sake. I hope you, USA , will. There is simply NO OTHER country that is able to take the lead and fight the war that has been waged on the western world by the Muslim terrorists. The old powers, France and Germany are still too much focused on the past. WW II and any show of military strenght is strictly forbidden. So if you like it or not, the USA is the only one who can solve this problem, but if I can be of any help let me know. Submitting....
