Islamic terrorism is an automatic assembly line powered by fundamentalismReader comment on item: Britain's New Export: Islamist Carnage Submitted by Ted (United States), Aug 4, 2010 at 22:25 Dear Dr Pipes: You have written how 'Islamic Carnage' has become the newest British export. It is not a surprise that Muslims in Britain are involving themselves in violence and terrorism. What is happening in British Islamic societies is a result of the choices that British Muslims (and Muslims in general) are making. I am writing this because I hope that at least a few Muslims will read this message and, probably, see some value in it. First, while the people in the host country may or may not discriminate against Muslims, Muslims definitely set themselves up for discrimination. They choose to dress differently, choose to speak different languages, and, of course, choose to pray differently (while most other cultures pray quietly and privately, Muslims pay at odd hours, in large groups, and often set their calls for prayer on loudspeakers). While most modern people choose to go to secular schools and conduct religious education inside homes and on weekends, more and more Islamic schools are being formed around the world. While most non-muslim kids go to preschools and kindergartens, more and more muslim children are opting for religious education in the early years of their lives. These tendencies are not without negative results. On the one hand, the host/majority sections of the society very quickly realize that Islamic populations want to stand out and behave differently. They realize that muslim diversity is not habitual or cultural but deliberate and assertive. Further, due to over-emphasis on religion the Islamic youth are less prepared for life's challenges than the rest of the population. As a result, joblessness, unemplyment, discontent and poverty increases in the Islamic sections or the populations. Which leads to terrorism and violence. This is a worldwide phenomenon and can be obsereved not only in Britain but also in other countries of the world. Muslim parents around the world should shift the attention of their kids toward science, creative arts, music and genunine spirituality (as against assertive spirituality). With that the plight of Muslims will improve. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
