Reader comment on item: Is Islam at War with the U.S.?

Submitted by Geoff (Canada), Oct 5, 2010 at 09:39

I agree Mr. Pipes that Islam is a growing issue, just as Soviet Communism was, and as National Socialism was (remember the Nazis anyone?). It is a social-political-religious organization that wants to fuse together religion and state, yet in a dictatorial fashion that will control everything you do (again, remember Communism, Dictatorshiops, Nazis...?).

If it comes to this, where institutions like sharia law will dominate wetern life, then western society will have fallen to a system that relates to communism and dictatorship, something that our fathers and grandfathers fought against and won --at a cost of millions of lives.

With Islam however, there is a hesitation to really do something about it because it is categorized as 'religion' which the western world respects (the right to practice your religion). Islam is playing this card to the max with confusing signals such as "we are a religion of peace" (although islam suggests to kill non-muslims...and please let's not deny this fact because it is written in their book); meanwhile, the politicians bicker as to how to respond to this without "insulting muslims." (meanwhile in muslim-dominated areas, churches are forcibly closed and Christians are persecuted)

I've commented before in some other of your posts, but I need to say this again: this lack of resolute and decisive action reminds me of Europe and its "politically emasculated" members who took no resolute action against the Nazis until it was too late...and millions died while the politicians "sipped tea."

Islam requires a heavy hand upon it because it represents "something nice" on the surface, but hides a sinister darkness whose potential to launch indescriminate death is enormous.

Please Mr. Pipes, let's encourage our esteemed politicians not to play politics this time, but get down to the nitty-gritty: stay alert, like the Minutemen, stand ready, stay informed, KNOW THE NEW RISING ENEMY which is Islam.

Welcome to the new Cold War.
