the current "peace talks"Reader comment on item: Republicans and Democrats Look at the Arab-Israeli Conflict Submitted by Jules Posten (United States), Oct 17, 2010 at 15:45 doesn't anyone notice that when Israel placed a hold on settlement construction for some ten (10) months, instead of the "Palestinian Authority' seizing immediately on this opportunity to come to the "peace table" and negotiate in good faith with Israel, they instead ignored this positive gesture for nine months, waiting until the last month of the construction hold to agree to sit down and talk. of course they now DEMANDED that this contruction hold be extended before any meaniful negotiations could proceed. it would seem that that the Palestinian Authority and its leader's brand of discussing issues in order to come to a meaningful agreement, mean that before any talks could begin, Israel must agree to each and every preconditioned demand made upon it. this would make any talks unnessary because there would be nothing left to talk about. every time i pick up a newspaper or watch TV news, i hear about the pressure being put on Israel by the Obama administration to accept these outrageous preconditions and cease being an impediment to peace in the Middle East. all this suggests to me is the predicicament that was forced on the Chechs by England and France when they gave away their country to Hitler to achieve "Peace in our time" we all know how long that "peace" lasted.
