Simply not trueReader comment on item: Palestine Betrayed Submitted by Abu Nudnik (Canada), Jun 21, 2011 at 13:57 "Had they accepted the U.N. plan, Palestine would be celebrating its 62nd anniversary this May. And there would have been no Nakba." ... and probably Israel would not exist. If you look at the '47 partition plan it gives three discontiguous portions to Arabs and Jews with three pinched borders to equally threaten each state, thus, I suppose, encouraging cooperation - a kind of mutually assured destruction situation. But when you throw in the annihilistic feeling of the surrounding nations and acceptance of '47 as a temporary military strategy would probably have been a winner for the Arabs. The plucky Jews got lucky: Arab intransigence has repeatedly allowed Israel to thrive. It's ironic too. Mohamed himself would no doubt have accepted the partition plan with its worthless international guarantees (ask a Pole) and then strengthened his war machine, striking when victory was assured. It's lucky that Husseini was as bad a Mulsim as most Christians are at being Christian and Jews at being Jews :) Submitting....
