What is happening in Turkey is goodReader comment on item: Turkey & Israel – The End of the Affair Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jan 16, 2012 at 23:33 Dear Dr Pipes: While we would not like Turkey to go the Islamist way, that is the only way change will come to the Islamic world. For as long as I can recall the Islamic strategy is to blame everyone else for thier own worldwide failures. The entire non-Islamic world values freedom and believes that freedom is an essential requirement for prosperity, happiness and non-violence. Islamists vehemently deny this. Freedom is challenged and destroyed in Islamic world every single day. Be it killing an apostate or denying the building of a church or a routine suicide bombing or forcing a woman the right of breathing fresh air, the Islamic world destroys freedom every day. And that is the true reason why there is unnecessary misery in the Islamic world. As more and more Islamic countries elect Islamists through the democratic elections, more and more of their people realize that what appears to be the panacea is actually the cause of the disease. So let Islamists win in Turkey and let Islamists hamper the progress that Turkeyt has made in the last two decades. And the goal of the people (and hopefully the governments) around the world should be to contain Islamism just as we contained socialism and communism.
