@basil this is a comment I copied and pasted from a random website which happened to have a very good historical analysis of what went wrong. Incidentally for all you conspirators out there believing that the evil Zionists/Jews have taken over the world again and took over the land of Israel..how can none of you and no one acknowledge the simple fact of direction of prayer?? Muslims face Mecca and have done so for centuries when they pray. Jews face Jerusalem when they pray and have done so since before there was even the religion of Islam....think about that one carefully this is no lie you can read a lot of books about this and don't rely on google searches for they are individually catered so that your search will only reconfirm your own predjudices..mark my words..

Here is the comment I copied and pasted, it makes a lot of logical sense and what it represents is such a typically stupid predictable reason behind what created this long running conflict..

a hashemite ruling a "palestinian" majority. Yes BECAUSE after the first world war, when the victors were divying up the remains of the Ottoman empire, what was originally that had a very good artioccalled the Paletinian Mandate was sliced up and 82% with its non-Hashemite majority was simply handed over to the first abdulla to rule over, BECAUSE he felt petulant that a big chunk of ottoman empire had been handed over to his (Hashemite) brother and renamed Iraq. Also with a non -Hashemite majority.I think. No palestinians migrated to Jordan. they already lived there. Lots of them.
