Koran Calls Moderate Muslims "Hypocrites"

Even a cursory perusal of the Koran and Sunnah/Hadiths will reveal violence and intolerance at the core of Islam's belief system. In particular, Muslims who espouse peaceful practices are held in contempt within Islam. For example, take a look at Qur'an 33:60

"Truly, if the Hypocrites, those in whose hearts is a disease, those who stir up sedition, the agitators in the city, do not desist, We shall urge you (Muhammad) to go against them and set you over them. Then they will not be able to stay as your neighbors for any length of time. They shall have a curse on them. Whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain without mercy—a fierce slaughter—murdered, a horrible murdering. (Such was) the practice (approved) of Allah among those who lived before. No change will you find in the practice of Allah."

In a sometimes highly charged, but valuable email discussion of possible Muslim moderation and reformation published at http://www.prophetofdoom.net/moderate_muslims.html , Dr. Jeff Grill, M.D., Dr. Robert Spencer (jihadwatch.org), and "Prophet of Doom" author Craig Winn each weighed in at length on whether moderate Muslims exist, and their place within Islam. While each of these men differed in style and outlook, they agreed that the teachings of Islamic scripture promote and justify Islamist terrorism.
