Democratic Islamists are more desirable than secular despots

Steve you and Sara share the presumption is people will be treated worse by democratically elected Islamists than they would by secular despots. This is not necessarily the case as Islamists in Turkey, Malaysia, and Tunisia have demonstrated. Sara has already accepted that secular despots are no better for American foreign policy. Perhaps you believe that walking down the streets holding hands under state repression is somehow superior to democratically elected Islamists. I believe such a position trivializes both freedom and democracy. If Egyptians freely choose to have such laws it's none of our business.
