Why not simply draw the conclusion that Arabs are not fit to govern themselves? This was the conclusion which was drawn by the western foreign policy establishment in the past.

Really? can you provide us with references to support this claim?

And you know what? The islamic historical tradition that you cannot read in Arabic tells us that Allah sent the invading Arabs because these great civiliaztions of the late antique period could not govern themselves and they needed the help of the Arabian imperialists (see Ibn Abd al-Hakam and the Arab invasion of Egypt's tarikh)
