Will The Middle East Lose Its Importance?Reader comment on item: Will the Middle East Lose Its Importance in Washington? Submitted by Judith (United States), Jul 2, 2012 at 14:00 Absolutely not! It is not all about oil and in that sense we can be grateful that we have the ability to become energy independent if we are allowed to be. Israel will in time follow suit. The Islamists have less power once they have less money and less economic control on the world, however, this in no way will negate the Islamic dream of a Califate to rule the world or the lies of the Palestinian narrative of a connection to Jewish land, or the individual ambitions for power among the Islamic groups. We cannot stop them from imploding nor do I believe we should, however, we need to circle our wagons and be strong against the powers that want to destroy Western values. Who's on first among the Islamic nations may change with each inning, however, trusting whoever comes out on top may never be possible! The biggest problem we will continue to have with the Middle East is not our dependence on oil, but our ability to hold on to our freedom!
