Well...Reader comment on item: Japan Invents the Future Submitted by Phil (Canada), Oct 31, 2012 at 12:53 Like you, I'm also currently doing a paper in my ethnology class regarding how Japan has had a cultural impact on the West (thus not only America) and vice-versa. In general, I would have to say that the whole give-and-take relation has been pretty much even. If anything, Japan has made some pretty unique cultural contributions to the West, which have "made their mark" in western culture, such as Godzilla, giant robots, certain video games, etc. It is somewhat ethnocentric to view America and the West as "unchanging" or "not greatly influenced by outside forces", while claiming that we have a greater influence on others than they have on us.
