It helped this time for President O'Bama to state that Israel had a right to defend itself

At the point the President said that, the News media couldn't pretend as though Israel's attacks on Gaza were initiated by Israel. Rather, it became evident that this was a response to rocket attacks.

All too often, HAMAS can rain down dozens of rockets for weeks without the press taking notice. Only when israel responds does the Press report: "Israel attacks Gaza".

With the President's rare statement of support for Israel, the U.S. media couldn't pretend that the Israelis started the artillery barrages.

This does not make me a fan of President O'Bama, but I think his comment helped israel in the media battle.
