Another benefit of Hamas taking power in Gaza (other than the tension it created with the PA) is that we can help the world understand who they are dealing with. I think that this was for the first time evident in the reportage of the latest iron dome campaign. More and more news outlets and commentary are catching on to the barbaric tactics used by Hamas on their own people as well as against Israeli civilians.
