It seems that the Egyptian food situation is a catastrophe which is already initiated. The figures I have seen suggest a trade deficit of about $30 billion a year, and essentially zero reserves..... No one can put that kind of money, and its administration, on the table.

As "Spengler" suggests, the tear gas may come in useful....
