Polio RevisitedReader comment on item: Islamism's Decade of Spreading Polio Submitted by Susan Somerville (Israel), Jun 2, 2013 at 14:55 I remember when there were outbreaks of polio among the general population in the US. As a child, I saddened that some children had to walk with crutches, and some children could not walk at all. After some years, a vaccine was discovered that could eradicate that illness. My classmates and I cheered when we heard the news.! This evening, having read the article about the spreading of polio in some of the African and Asian countries and the fact that some ignorant Muslim clerics would declare preventative measures to curb such a disease to be part of a conspiracy theory, I am lead to think that it's a tragedy that people are struck with such a medical problem in this day in age. Wafa Sultan was so correct in labeling those clerics and their leaders-followers as "barbarians." Actually, in my estimation, that is too tame a description. They epitomize the stupidest of ignoramuses, if there is such a thing. Too bad that people have to fall prey to their preachings.
