Reza Aslan's "Zealot" and Nakoula's "Innocence of Muslims" and the source behind the sourceReader comment on item: Islamism's Likely Doom Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Aug 4, 2013 at 07:34 Dr. Pipes There are indeed amazing similarities between Reza Aslan's book and the "Innocence of Muslims" video. Reza Aslan's book is about his claim that Jesus was not unlike the historical Muhammad (jahil and a warrior) and in the case of the Nakoula's video Muhammad was an Arabian warlord and caravan raider. And both claim that this is what they find in the literary sources that they read. The end results are, and this is where the similarites end: No Christian riots as we have seen following the release of the video of Mr Nakoula and Christians are debating Mr Aslan in the market place of ideas and proving to him that his book is really bad. However I do not know of any Muslim that reviewed Nakoula's video and proved him in the market place of ideas to be wrong And here is another difference: Aslan tells us that the Gospels are no more than fiction then he has the audacity to quote them to support his claims. So they are either fiction or not and if they are then do not quote them to prove a point (compare this with Wansbrough who did not use any isnads because he believed that they are all forgeries and that is what a real scholar should do) Nakoula does not tell us that the Islamic literary sources are forgeries, instead he really says that this is what we have in the Islamic literary sources. As I said before I'm shocked that his book No God but god is so much liked after all how can he write a book about early Islam when he does not speak or write or read Arabic? Contrast this with Mr Nakoula whose mother tongue is Arabic Reza Aslan is in the same class and the ignorant and annoying Karen Armstrong
