the second dimension of oil-supplyReader comment on item: Has Iran Gained a Foothold in the Arabian Peninsula? Submitted by myth (Germany), Jan 17, 2014 at 12:17 Apart from controlling access to raw-resources there is a second dimension to oil supply. Western public opinion wants to believe badly that the US fights wars over oil. A conflict around the Strait of Hormuz, even if merely diplomatic by nature, has the potential to undermine public support for US foreign policy across the Western World. Ahmadinejad claimed in an interview with German TV a few years ago that Western policies toward Iran contradict public opinion in the West. Maybe the Iran-UAE deal intends to influence and exploit Western public opinion as the weak spot.
