Step by StepReader comment on item: Has Iran Gained a Foothold in the Arabian Peninsula? Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Jan 17, 2014 at 15:14 Daniel, I recall reading about 3 alliances in the Middle East, and how the first and the second alliances are in the process of ganging up on the third. It seems plans are proceeding apace. Or, am I wrong? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I just know of two alliances, those headed by Iran and Saudi Arabia. See here for an analysis. Under Obama, the USG seems increasingly to favor the former of these two. Reader comments (10) on this item
