However, my read is that the FEB17 guys are denying that they helped but are more interested in making the point (by saying they refused to engage them) that that they failed to protect the embassy, no? in other words, its more important for them to publicly state that they werent attacking the shabab than to argue that they were doing their job defending the embassy
