Israel Solidarity Rally in OregonReader comment on item: Is CAIR Lying about a Rally for Hamas? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Aug 22, 2014 at 11:03 The Hillel group in Eugene, OR staged an Israel Solidarity rally last Monday. Only a few dozen showed up, roughly divided between Messianics and the local Jewish community. This is actually a vast improvement over a rally I attended in Portland in 2001, which reflects the weakness of the Jewish community here. A tiny group of "anti" protestors (about four of them -- a very small turnout in this city which is called "Berkely of the North") gathered across the street, with some confusion over what their message was (gay rights? world peace? I couldn't tell, by the signs. Anyway, they were generally friendly with us). I made my own sign, "HONK IF YOU LOVE ISRAEL", and it was a big hit! We had honks every time the traffic stopped for the lights, along with smiles, waves and encouraging shouts. I don't think "HONK IF YOU LOVE HAMAS" would have brought out any response of the sort. No matter what the world press and Obama says, Israel and the Jewish people have hearty support among the American people. Am Yisrael chai!
