Middle East alliances.Reader comment on item: The "Middle East Cold War" Reaches Morocco Submitted by Michael S. (United States), Sep 15, 2014 at 03:14 Daniel, The link you provided for "Y. Carmon, Y. Yehoshua, A. Savyon, and H. Migron, "An Escalating Regional Cold War."" did not mention Qatar. During the "Arab Spring" of 2010/11, Qatar and Saudi Arabia were on the same page as each other -- along with Bahrain and the other Gulf Cooperation Council states. This was also the case in 2009, when this thread was posted. Since 2011, The GCC countries have drifted apart into three blocs: 1. Qatar, which aligns with Turkey (also Tunisia and several Jihadist groups) 2. Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE and Saudi Arabia (as well as Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, Official Libya and Morocco) 3. Oman, which seems to be closer to Iran than anyone else. Israel is often mentioned with the Saudi bloc, because they both face common enemies; but beneath the cooperation, the whole Arab world has been poisoned with anti-Jewish propaganda. Israel stands, first and foremost, for Israel and for the survival of the Jewish people. The most mercurial of all countries in the Middle East is the US, which has a powerful presence in places like Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. It's hard to tell which side they are on, on any particular day.
