Turkey Furtively Helps ISIS

Reader comment on item: Erdoğan Fails to Conquer New York City

Submitted by Dave (United States), Sep 24, 2014 at 17:23

If I were there I would ask why Turkey refuses to assist us against ISIS by providing air base support and whether that's part of an overall strategy of support for extremist Sunni opposition groups in Syria and Iraq. From what I have read here, it certainly sounds as if Turkey has quietly helped ISIS, especially through its porous border with Syria. Even Obama has pointedly asked Erdogan about Turkey and ISIS, which is pretty nervy for that wimp.

I think it's a terrible tragedy that Turkey's promising modernity has given way to primitive religious reaction. It shows that as time marches on, progress does not always follow.
