Clueless Erdogan and Morsi June 30 2013Reader comment on item: Erdoğan Fails to Conquer New York City Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Sep 27, 2014 at 14:04 Dr. Pipes A very good Egyptian liberal friend who has connections in the Ministry of External Affairs told me this story: On June 30 2013 when millions of Egyptians were marching in the streets against the MB and Morsi Erdogan called Morsi and yelled at him and told him to be a man and go out and shoot those opposing him and teach them a lesson Morsi's answer was how can Erdogan expect him to kill millions of peaceful Egyptians that have every right to protest and that he was already in real trouble and that if Erdogan wish to fly to Egypt and shoot those that are opposing him then good luck but he could be arrested. Erdogan also told him that the Turkish Embassy has "bouncers" (read this as thugs). Morsi's answer was all he can tell those thungs is good luck but they will be arrested Erdogan hang up and that was the end of it Oh and to add insult to injury on July 3 Erdogan called el-Sisi's private line and demanded to speak to him and the answer he got was el-Sisi will get the message and he more likely than not will not call him back. Erdogan hang up again after swearing in Turkish Whether this story is true or Egyptian Urban Legends the Turks are seen in Egypt by both the MB and the liberals as out of touch with reality Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
