We are the BORGReader comment on item: America the Multicultural Submitted by Michael S. (United States), Oct 1, 2014 at 13:56 Producing forms, manuals, etc. in 17 languages means 17 times as much paperwork is needed. This benefits the waste disposal, recycling, timber and paper industries. If that makes sense to our eco-conscious and global-warming-conscious Leftist aristocracy, so be it. It is indeed ridiculous to me, seeing that English is increasingly becoming the international lingua franca. In Genesis, we read that God confounded man's language in order to keep him from technological madness. By becoming a monolingual world, with English as our unifying language, we have begun to overcome this barrier. Now, technology has enabled us to re-confound our language, and we are blindly obeying its wishes -- and returning to Babel. Are we run by a "computer spirit", bent on its own destruction? We are the BORG. You will be assimilated, in 17 languages. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
