Turkey Presents an Unusual Case of State-Sponsorship of TerrorismReader comment on item: Adding Turkey to the "State Sponsors of Terrorism" List Submitted by Alex (United States), Nov 29, 2014 at 19:58 It strikes me that the support Turkey under Erdogan's time as PM and now President may be unprecedented in the history of state sponsored terrorism: whereas other countries (like Iran) past and present have sought to keep such behavior secret and to use it to further their own interests, Turkey does apparently nothing to hide the presence of HAMAS operational commanders and ISIS networks within it's borders (it may well be known that Hezbollah is based in Lebanon, but it was not as if Imad Mughniyah made speeches in Beirut standing next to Hassan Nasrallah). I am not aware of a similar example from anywhere else.
