Swedish Canary Is DyingReader comment on item: Did Swedes Just Decide for National Suicide? Submitted by Dave (United States), Dec 30, 2014 at 17:05 The poor little yellow Swedish canary in the coal mine is breathing very heavily. Surely, with its outsize refugee policy, Sweden serves as a kind of bellwether as to what lies ahead if the West persists in its foolish Islamic immigration policy. Some of the areas in Malmo are undergoing an extreme version of the sort of chaos - crime, violence, rape, welfare and intolerance - that one sees as common to many areas of Europe with large Muslim populations. Not surprisingly, many native Swedes who live in those neighborhoods are trying to leave. The Western standard of morality is ill equipped to deal with the challenge. For example, there is the biblical injunction to be kind to strangers, since the Jews were once strangers in Egypt. There is the Western notion, from Genesis, that all people are created in the Lord's image, one of the foundations behind the idea of racial equality. Combine all that with the undeniable tendency of some of the anti-immigrant parties to indulge in anti-Semitism and xenophobia, and the weight of mainstream opinion is on the side of pro-immigration. Yet, as Ralph Waldo Emerson once observed, consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. The Islamic world today is a very sick and dangerous place, and a threat to civilization. If one believes in self-preservation, then making an exception to protect oneself is the best policy. Survival is one virtue that demands a halt to the present policy.
