Reader comment on item: Introduction to "Nothing Abides"

Thank you so much for publishing your introduction to "Nothing Abides". It further confirms that Islam advocates a return to the dark age from which it began. I'm firmly convinced that Raphael Patai has accurately described the conflict proneness which has dominated Arab and Muslim society from its inception. There is no compromise with it or accommodation to it. Our ill-conceived efforts at negotiation are seen as weakness to be exploited. Our Islamic president is its champion.

Where is Islam's great contribution to advancing freedom in the world and understanding among its peoples. For them there is only the way of jihad. Truth without dogma enabling every individual to achieve their potential without fear or threat from the other is simply beyond their comprehension.

The bottom line in my opinion is to bomb the reactors and get on with the path to peace. I am certain that Patai would agree. Both Syria and Iraq illustrate the point.
