Griffiths (United Kingdom), Aug 13, 2015 at 11:51 Kepler's distance law v^2 =1/r is crucial for an understanding of astronomical orbits particularly of Halley's Comet. We know the Comet's velocity and distance from the Sun at perihelion, but very little else largely because of the innumaracy of professional astronomers, who have made no advances in the subject since Isaac Newton's Principia page 540.
