state of emergency in France restricts demonstrationsReader comment on item: "Charlie Hebdo shocked France. But that shock wore off." Submitted by myth (Germany), Jan 11, 2016 at 17:36 France introduced a state of emergency, some form of martial law, after the Paris attacks two months ago. That legislation restricted all gatherings and certainly demonstrations. I believe this state of emergency is still in place. That's why the public reaction did not repeat the millions that were on the streets after the Charlie Hebdo attack earlier in 2015.
