World Alignments Becoming More LogicalReader comment on item: India-West Asia Relationship Can Swing Either Way Submitted by Dave (United States), Feb 23, 2016 at 20:20 I remember, years ago when I was in college, having a long talk one night with an Indian friend of mine, an astrophysics grad student. That was in the bad old days, when India was aligned with the Soviet Union and the PLO. Dilip had an astonishing grasp of Islam, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the world in general. He explained how India and Israel were natural allies because of their shared challenge from Islam, that the current Indian alignment (back then) made no sense. He expressed his disgust at Western liberals and their mistaken sympathy for the Arabs. How perceptive he was! Years later, Western liberals have only grown more appeasing, but the Indian-Israeli relationship has sensibly grown closer. In addition, even Greece and Russia are closer to Israel for much the same reason as India. As India modernizes and becomes more like a highly educated First World country, I expect her identification with other countries to change accordingly. Make no mistake, India is ascendant.
