Sucks to be them...Reader comment on item: Iraq's Coming Apocalypse Submitted by Glenn Donovan (United States), Apr 3, 2016 at 16:40 I know, I sound cold but the truth is that I'm fresh out of compassion for the world. I was born under scourge of the Vietnamese war, and have watched my nation undertake one foolish campaign after another around the world which yielded manifold unintended consequences and gained us the reputation of an incompetent, imperial monster. Let Iraq and Syria fold in on themselves. While I don't relish their suffering, I feel no compassion. Time for us to turn inwards and fix our own nation. Our own tottering electrical grid. Pay down our debts. Shore up our Navy to ward of truly global instabilties like China. Europe is lost, let them descend into the next chapter of them slicing each other to bits, NATO is a pretense. Focus on our hemisphere, build our relationships here. The Atlantic and the Pacific are still quite large.
