The Isis Cover StoryReader comment on item: Making Sense of the Ankara Bombing Submitted by ProfessorJ (United States), Jun 30, 2016 at 17:23 When I first heard the statement from the Turkish government that they suspected Isis it did not add up for me. Turkey has been accused by even mainstream leaders like Joe Biden of helping Isis. Turkey shot down a Russian plane going after Free Syrian Army rebels - who are compatriots with Isis -hair of the same dog. Turkey is bitterly in conflict with the Kurds. The Kurds fight Isis. Would Isis bite the hand of those who are at least de facto are supporting them by fighting their enemies. That does not make sense. My take is that ISIS, in its usual belligerent and non-strategic way, is putting pressure on Ankara to continue to help it. Reader comments (12) on this item
