Perhaps the dam will have some significance in the future; but the most interesting thing to happen lately concerning Mosul, is Turkey's President Erdogan's claiming both Mosul, Iraq and Aleppo, Syria as Turkish territory:

NOTE: THE ABOVE CONTAINS A MAP, WHICH EXPLICITLY SHOWS TURKISH CLAIMS.

A year ago, one could dismiss this as bluster; but now, Turkey has troops and tanks on the ground in both Iraq and Syria.
