A lot can be said about this topic in favor of Israel but I think there is also a responsibility for Israel to occupy the moral ground at all times.

I think the point that Palestinians might come to their senses after a defeat is correct but only if there is no permanent damage. Indeed one can argue that from a perspective of defeating Palestine to the point where they feel hopeless Israel is actually doing too little. What brought Japan to its senses was a terrifying nuclear attack that threatened to wipe them off the face of the Earth.

What Israel is doing won't have the same effect from my perspective.
For long term peace its not just Palestine but the entire sunni Arab world that needs to be reformed. Taliban, Al Qaeda, ISIS etc all lead to a more unsafe world for Israelis and non Israelis alike.
