Reader comment on item: Turkey's Vainglorious Referendum

Submitted by Metin Camcigil,Former President of the Ataturk Society of America (United States), Apr 14, 2017 at 15:22

You made a good summary of state of affairs in Turkey, and an excellent assessment of Erdogan's plans. Turkish intellectuals have been warning the world of this then potential outcome since the rise of AK party to power, to no avail. Now it became a reality.

I understand that you wished to limit your article to his objective of reverting Turkey to its pre-Republic state, thus did not want to go into his Islamist foreign policy which is detrimental also to the West. However, I miss your comment about the very meaningful choice of the last picture in your article: he has been greeting the public in the last couple of years with that Rabia sign of the Muslim Brotherhood to show his solidarity with them.

Thank you for the compliments. I hope to take up the foreign policy of Turkey before long.
