Reader comment on item: The Paradoxical Peril of Warm U.S.-Israel Relations

What leads to this near insane belief that the Palestinian Authority has any intention of ever coming to terms with Israel. Abbas and the PA admit, to themselves, that any accommodation is only a step in wiping Israel off the map! So why is this policy the US State Dept. goal? Why?

As I say, it has more to do with the psychological than the political.
