Trump's Middle East policy seems on track so farReader comment on item: Iran nuclear deal is internationally popular: Middle East Forum president Submitted by Michael S, Jun 15, 2017 at 03:24 So far, Trump't Middle East policy is on target: 1. ISIS, the main threat from the region felt by the US, is essentially already beaten in Syria and Iraq, thanks to Trump's deft cooperation with the local players. The task ahead, is to deal with the aftermath (which I believe will be a Turko-Iranian attack on Israel via Syria). I am curious to see how he deals with the YPG Kurds during this time; but that is not the most important issue there. 2. Iran. Trump's essentially convening a Sunni Summit in Saudi Arabia, was Step 1 in the plan to get Iran. The Saudi-led initiative is Step 2. Interestingly, Turkey is also involved in this matter as a meddler. I expect Turkey to eventually throw in its lot with Iran. Saudi Arabia's nascent alliance with Israel also seems to be part of this plan. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
